Bonsoir!
I've been almost two weeks away from home and now it starts to feel really like a home here in Thionville. Of course I don't have very many good friends yet, so I miss mine in Finland pretty much. But there's nice people at my School, so after this year I hopefully have many French friends!! :) I also hope, that I'll meet friendly people in Scout, because I think I'll find from there same kind of people as I am.
Yesterday I was climbing and playing badminton with my host sister! So much fun! Even though my French isn't good, I still have a wonderful time with my host family everyday. I love to be with them and I love my new home very much!
School's still pretty hard. Fortunately German and English are pretty easy. I'm very happy, that I have so much German here and even though some of it is pretty easy, I have also some of history and geography in German, so there I'll learn pretty good vocabulary. Also in natur siences and math are okay, because I've had already the themes in Finland. Of course the vocabulary is new, but the words are not so different after all. There's still lots of work, days are long and homeworks take time, because I need to translate many words. It feels awesome, when I understand every week a little bit more what the teacher says. It feels great! Even though I've started to understand French better, the idea of me speaking French feels still pretty stupid. I'll do in this year one big projekt with my friend in French for the ABI's and also a little less important (but which I'm looking forward to do) presentation about Finland for German class.
Today I felt pretty popular. I've got one package and two letters. I've got pictures of my little brother and sister and they were super cutie :) I miss them already. The other letter was from one of my best friends and it was increadible how she managed to write all the right words. I hoped that read would never end and I nearly cried when I read it. It was a bitter sweet reminder how awesome friends I have back in Finland.
I love the real letters. I like to write them and it's so much nicer to get real letter than an e-mail (which is ofc nice too..) But I love to read the real letters and there's always something special in them. I also spoke about this with my very good friend in Germany, when we last summer read the old letter and we realized, that it's pretty pity, that our parents have their letter as a memories, but we have only e-mails and facebook chats. People should definately write more letters!
For me the exchange year is good excuse to write them and to get my friends write them too.
It's only friday and then it's weekend! I'm so excited. On Saturday we'll go to scout and I'm sure we'll have lots of fun again. On Sunday we'll probably making a trip to some of the beautiful cities near Thionville with my family. It's also nice to sleep long, because this all makes me so tired. I'm pretty syre, that I've never slept so much in my life than here.
That's why it's time to say good night for all of you!
Don't forget to sleep enough and write a letter for someone, it's way to make someone very happy. And perhaps you'll have a letter one day too!
Bonne nuit, xx
ps. Hopefully this isn't impossible to read, 'cause I'm so tired that I have no idea what I'm writing about.. :D And my head is full of French, so it's not easy to write in English!
